Aestium

The Aestium skill involves using the mysterious and ancient energy force known as "Aestus" to cast spells.

To start Aestium you will need to complete the quest "Learn The Way of The Aestus". Once you have done that you will have been given a Plain Aestus Staff and a small amount of Aestus.

To learn new spells, you can go and visit Pyotr in the town of Stonehill (once you have completed the quest) and he will teach you them.

To collect Aestus itself requires gemstones. Over thousands and thousands of years the Aestus has seeped into the ground and been stored in gemstones. In order to release it, you need an Aestus Staff, then you can crack the gemstone open and absorb the Aestus.

Aestium Combat

There are lots of Destruction and Preservation spells which can be used in combat if you want to fight.

Aestium Combat is quite different to normal Combat, as your Attack and Defence levels are not that important, what is more important is your Aestium level and the power of the spells you are using.

To start Aestium Combat it is the same procedure as starting normal combat, however you simply have to have an Aestus Staff equipped.

On the Aestus Combat screen you will have your foods as usual to heal, but also any healing spells you have learnt, and your 6 chosen Combat spells (you can choose these in Combat options).

Different spells are effective/weak against different types of monsters, so it's important to choose the correct spells to take into battle with you. For instance, Fire spells are very effective against most EARTH monsters, but Light spells are not effective at all against NORMAL monsters.
